INFORMATION FOR VENUES
The global Apartheid Free Zone (AFZ) movement calls on venues and organisations to boycott and divest from companies that support Israel’s flagrant human rights violations.
Our first boycott target is Coca-Cola – the company quenching Israel’s thirst for genocide.
To boycott the Coca-Cola company, and transition to drinks which aren’t affiliated with apartheid: first, fill out the form below; then, proudly show off your commitment by hosting a campaign sticker on your wall or window, as well as your website and social media (if relevant).
How to boycott Coca-Cola
On signing up to be an AFZ, Venues will be deemed either a TRANSITION AFZ or an OFFICIAL AFZ based on how many of the global BDS targets they have boycotted, as well as where they are in boycotting these products.
We welcome venues to sign up as TRANSITION AFZs if they are phasing out Coca-Cola products, with the intention to fully phase them out in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What does it mean for my venue to become an Apartheid Free Zone (AFZ)?
By signing the pledge, your venue publicly commits to standing against apartheid and occupation through your business choices. This means boycotting companies operating in illegal Israeli settlements - starting with Coca-Cola - and transitioning to ethical, independent alternatives.
Becoming an AFZ venue shows your audience, staff, and community that your space values justice, equality, and solidarity.
-
Is this political?
The AFZ campaign is values-driven, not partisan. It’s based on human rights principles and international law, including UN Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016), which recognises that Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem are illegal under international law.
Becoming an AFZ venue is about standing for equality and ethical business practices, not political affiliation. Read more here
-
Do I have to remove all Coca-Cola products immediately?
No. We understand that venues have existing supplier relationships.
You can transition at your own pace - the important step is making the commitment and beginning to phase out Coca-Cola Company products.
We can provide you with an ethical supplier list to make this transition smooth and practical.
-
What brands should I avoid?
Coca-Cola Amatil and The Coca-Cola Company own or distribute these popular brands in Australia: Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Lift, Mount Franklin, Powerade, Pump, Barista Bros, Fuze Tea, Schweppes and Billson’s.
Removing these brands from your venue menu or fridges is the first step toward full participation in the campaign.
-
What are ethical alternatives I can offer instead?
We encourage venues to source independent, local, or fair-trade alternatives.
Options include:
• Palestinian-owned brands such as Salaam Cola, Chat Cola and Gaza Soda
• Local Australian producers like small-batch sparkling or kombucha makers
• Fair-trade coffee, teas, and juices from local suppliers. We can help you connect with distributors who already supply AFZ-aligned venues.
-
What if customers or suppliers ask questions about the campaign?
We’ll provide you with talking points and printed materials to help explain your decision clearly and respectfully.
You can simply say:
“Our venue has joined the Apartheid Free Zone campaign to align with international human rights standards and support ethical, independent suppliers.”
The campaign is about values - not confrontation.
